Fitness Goals

People who are trying to lose weight often want to see immediate results and become discouraged if they fail. The truth is, it took a long time for you to gain that extra weight and it will not disappear overnight. For some people it is very important to set fitness goals for themselves to make sure that they are noticing the small feats they are accomplishing every day. For instance, a person could set a goal that they will not eat in front of the television any more. Every night they reach that goal, they should be rewarded. This will give you more fuel to behave and not break your diet rules.

Fitness goals help put the whole situation into perspective. A reasonable weight loss goal to set every week is 2 pounds. Any more than 2 pounds consistently can sometimes be harmful to your health. Therefore, if you aim to lose 2 pounds per week and you lose more, it’s icing on the cake (metaphorically, of course, because you won’t be eating cake).

So, sit down with your partner or friend and make a list of fitness goals that you are going to aim to accomplish in the next month. Then at the beginning of every month, do it again. This will help you see results faster and stay on track. You will constantly be reminding yourself that you have come such a long way. This will help you not fall off the weight loss wagon and become discouraged. People who set goals for themselves are more likely to lose weight and get healthy because what they are actually doing is enacting a complete lifestyle change.
